Things have gone from strength to strength this year and your reactions really do help us to know we are moving in the right direction! Label boss and Atomic Jam resident DJ Chris Finke steps up next with his second solo EP on Flux, with "The Riot House". The last 12 months has seen Chris really pushing things forward, with continuing his gigs at clubs and festivals all over the world including Fabric, The End and Glastonbury in the UK, and countries as far afield as Japan, South America as well as his usual European and UK dates. His residency at Atomic Jam (now in its 14th year) has gone from strength to strength, and Chris has been instrumental in helping to steer the legendary club's music policy and direction into what is today. Its his productions that have really started to turn heads though - he has remixed a number of artists including A Guy Called Gerald and Mark Broom, and has material forthcoming on labels including Firefly, Stimulus, M_Rec Ltd as well as his own Flux. Chris's varied production style is showcased here on this EP. "Shut That Door" is presented in 2 mixes, kicking off the EP in slow, dark territories. A heavy, nagging bassline drives the track forward, with moody shuffley drum programming and metallic stabs, while the "rave" version brings extra darkness to the table. A killer for the dancefloor. Kyle Geiger and Ortin Cam are both remixing the original mix for future release on Flux. The title track ups the energy and is a peak-time techno stormer with a sting in the tail. Carefully crafted synths and super funky percussion soon give way to one of Chris's now infamous breakdowns before the hook kicks and carries the track in another direction.
